Among Russians, “pampas” is a place in the middle of nowhere. We were laughing today, therefore, when Andrey landed at Pampas.

The only thing which justifies his choice of landing field was that Pampas is the name of an Australian village where Sport class had goal today. Yay, one more goal for Andrey!

Единственное, что его оправдывает, это то, что Pampas — это название австралийской деревеньки и именно здесь сегодня был финиш спорт-класса! Ура, ещё один финиш!

The weather today was tough, with lots of relights, bomb outs, and minimum distances. Strong cross wind, high cloud cover, difficult to reach ceiling (which in the end rose up to 2800 m!). The sports class pilots had a two turnpoint task of about 74 km (69 optimized distance), open class — three turnpoint dogleg task of about 118 km (109 optimized distance). Two sport pilots and eight open class pilots made goal today (Andrey was first among kingposted gliders and Matthew Barlow among topless!).

Погода сегодня была сложной, очень много повторных стартов, бомбаутов и минимальных дистанций. Сильный боковой ветер, наступающая криза, сложнодостигаемая база (которая в итоге была аж 2800 м!). У спорткласса был таск около 74 км через один ппм, у опен-класса — порядка 118 км через два ппм. На финишах два пилота спорт-класса (первый Андрюха!) и восемь пилотов опен-класса (первый Matthew Barlow).

In the Pampas area there are a lot of cotton fields. I have never seen it so close before. It’s like cotton wool growing right out of the grass. Looks awesome, and makes you want to immediately touch it all!

А еще в районе тех самых Пампас очень много хлопковых полей. Это как вата растет сразу из травы. Офигенно выглядит, и сразу хочется всё пощупать
